This is a very quaint English village with half timbered houses and a traditional village green.

The scarecrow festival

In previous years the residents of Thornton Hough have put on a scarecrow festival (although there won't be one in 2009). They populated their gardens with scarecrows dressed up as celebrities, politicians, historical figures - in fact, pretty much anything goes.
