Cottage location in relation to Chester city centre

Map of Chester city centre

The cottage is conveniently situated in an area of Chester known locally as Handbridge, on the south side of the River Dee. It is approximately 10 to 15 minutes walk to Chester city centre and just over 1 mile (1.8 km) or 15 to 20 minutes walk to the race course. Handbridge is a mainly residential area with a small village-like centre with some shops, a café, a couple of pubs and a restaurant. The cottage is away from the main road in a quiet residential street. Please note that before confirming a booking we don’t give out the exact address of the property for security reasons and to protect the privacy of guests currently staying there.

Chester train station is 1.4 miles (2.3 km) from the cottage and there is a taxi rank just outside the station.

The city centre is very compact so you can reach most of the main attractions within 5 to 20 minutes walk including the city wall, the riverside Groves and Chester cathedral.

The cottage kitchen is well equipped for self-catering, however, if you prefer to let someone else do the cooking, then you will find plenty of places to eat out within walking distance in Handbridge and Chester city centre (see our restaurant reviews page).

  • AA Roadwatch has a web page and a recorded traffic service that you can call from your mobile just before you set off to check for any delays. Dial 84322 (charges apply).
